Subject: Pug's questionable demise in Ovett, MS

Hi Susan and xxxxx, Date: Fri, 22 Oct 1999 20:39:48 -0500

Your posts were forwarded to me about an unreturned crate and Poogie. I must contact you about a hellish ordeal I went through with Bev and Marci.

I am very sorry to hear about Poogie and pray for his safe return to you.

What list(s) did they find you on?

I can supply you with "vet" phone #s but doubt it'll do any good.

This is my heartwrenching, tragic story. My name is Marion Goyer. I am Founder and President of a non-profit, 501(c)3 Pug rescue in the Memphis, TN area.

I allowed Marci Chatfield to adopt a Pug to keep for herself from us and now his demise is of very questionable nature. My broken heart weighs very heavy within me at the decision I made to allow this neutered, precious, special needs, 8yo male Pug "Nash" to go there. They claim his trachea collapsed after going to them and then he died. I've repeatedly demanded medical records proving this. One lie after another spews from their mouths. They say the records were sent to me, they say they were sent to LSU, they say their vet diagnosed the collapsed trachea and performed other tests, they say LSU diagnosed the collapsed trachea, on and on and on.

I am now getting reports back that other rescue groups have had problems with Bev and Marci after sending dogs to them, in that no one knows where the dogs really go. I've also heard that they've been kicked off lists for their questionable actions. I've heard that they have taken large quantities of dogs and will refuse none.

June 19, 1999, my two friends and I personally took Nash to their home. I have heard from someone who adopted 2 Pugs to them and, to this day, Marci tells this person how well these 2 Pugs are doing. Bev and Marci told us they had no Pugs and we saw no Pugs at a time when these 2 Pugs were supposed to be there.

Oh, dear Lord, it's unfathomable to even try to imagine where these dogs are ending up. I don't want to think about Nash being tested for research, used for bait for fighting dogs, used in Satanic ritual, or used as live bait for longshoreman off the Gulf Coast. This is all very frightening.

I live near Memphis, a not-so-small city, and can't find suitable homes for the few Pugs we get through our rescue. I have heard of countless dogs ending up with LBOH, and LBOH never providing any accountability for where they are. How can someone in rural MS find homes for them all - including mixed, large, ill? They'll accept any dog and claim to keep the aged and ill for themselves til the animal dies.

Be very careful as to their charms. They manipulate with sweet talk and, when they get questioned or caught, they try manipulating and driving wedges between people with "he said this bad thing about you, she said this bad thing about you." You know, high school mentality.

I tearfully beg you, for Nash's sake and others, please help to put a stop to their agenda.

I can never turn back the hands of time and bring Nash safely back to me. I can't bear the thought that he's been hurt somewhere. Dear, God... I truly loved that boy. He shared my home for a year and my heart longer.
